It was a great start to the season on Saturday.  There was plenty of motorcycle competition with 31 classes in 18 races.  It was an evening that had a lot of wind and dust but everyone bundled up and got down to racing. Everyone was gathered at the rider’s meeting to sing Happy Birthday to Fred Bennet for his 60th birthday.

The night saw the return of Rick Diaz to the track...no... not to flag... he was racing.  He ended with a second place in the heat and the main.  Ryan and Lexi made their debut in the 50 beginner class and Roman got his first start in the 50 novice class. Clay Chambers was out in front leading Knucklehead Racing to the podium.  Allison Stacy won the 65 class with Nolan Reitz in 2nd.  It was a battle of the ladies in the 70/80 class, Makaylah took 1st on her 80 and Molly Jane took 2nd on her 70.  In the 65/85 race, Trevor Potts was on fire with Allison a close 2nd on her 65.  Michael Avila was interviewed by Darol Fishman (who did an excellent job announcing the races all night) at the track for all to hear how Mikey won Nationals and received the Horizon Award for 2009. Mikey came in 2nd in both the Open A and Pro races to Kayl Kolkman. It was a battle. Jason Craven was 2nd place to Fred Bennet in the Vintage race and 3rd Place in the Vet race to John Nunes (1st) and Mike Dillard (2nd)

It was a great opening night at the Barn. The next event is a double points race on Saturday October 10th. Hope to see everyone there.
